The School Day
Children at St Michael’s enjoy a calm start to the day with a soft start, while collection times are staggered to ease congestion. During the day, children will be enjoying a well-structured timetable.
To allow all pupils to safely enter and exit the school, we ask parents take a careful note of the times their children should arrive at school, and be collected.
Years 1 to 6: The school gates will be open from 8:45 – 8:55am. Please drop your child at the school gate and allow them to come into school independently. There will be plenty of members of staff present to help them to their new classrooms.
If your child arrives late after 8:55 am a member of staff will take them to their classroom and they will be marked late in the register.
Reception: line up in the top playground at 8:50am
Nursery: line up in the top playground at 9:00am
There is normally an assembly every morning at 9:00am, either for the whole school or each Key Stage, which are currently being recorded as a video and shown to each class, or held on Zoom, but in time will be conducted Face to Face.
3:10pm – Year 3 & Year 2
3:15pm – Year 4 & Year 1
3:20pm – Year 5 & Reception
3:25pm – Year 6
3:30pm – Nursery
Where you have children in more than one year group they should all be collected at the later time. For example, if you have a Year 2 and a Year 5 child, please collect them both at 3:20pm. If you have any questions please contact the school office.
All children should be collected by 3:30pm. If you are unavoidably delayed please call the School Office.
A note for parents:
Parents are encouraged to let children from Years 2 to 6 enter the top playground independently. Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children can be accompanied in, but should be dropped off swiftly and parents should leave as soon as they have dropped off. Please wear a face covering.
Please wear a face covering and leave promptly to prevent congestion. Please spread out in the top playground and observe social distancing and exit as soon as you have collected your children.
All classes enjoy a morning playtime at 10:15am, where each class has their own dedicated area to play, with a selection of equipment and games. Each week this is rotated, so that children get different experiences.
Lunch times are staggered to allow children to eat in the hall in a calm and relaxed environment. Children get 15-20 minutes to eat their lunch and 45minutes of playtime outside.
If the weather is inclement, playtime is taken in the classrooms.
