Good school attendance improves your child’s chance of achieving their full potential: socially, emotionally and academically.

The most common reason given for children to miss school is illness, however most of the time childhood ailments can be managed in school. For information on how Covid-19 absences are managed, please see the most recent Covid-19 updates.

Minor Illnesses and School Attendance.

Authorisation to take your child out of school during term time is at the discretion of the Headteacher. Holidays during term time cannot be authorised.

When considering your request the Headteacher will take into consideration:

• the effect the absence will have on the child’s education and ability to achieve
• the overall pattern of attendance and punctuality
• the age of the child
• the child’s stage of education
• the time of year (SATs or assessments)

Please use the exceptional leave request form and return it to the office. You will receive a reply within ten working days from the Head of School.
