Lunchtime is a special part of the school day where children can catch up with friends and reflect on how their day is going.
Lunchtime is between 12:00 and 1:30. Children are taken to the dining hall by their class teacher, and are seated in ‘families’ of six. To encourage children to build new friendships, families are changed each half term.
“We have families at lunch so no one is lonely.”
Quality food, lots of choice
Our school lunches are cooked on site. Fresh produce is always used and delivered on a daily basis. Lunch menus are produced on a tri-weekly cycle so that parents can look ahead at what their child will be eating at school.
School lunches are paid for via SCOPAY at the beginning of each term. Children can opt to bring a packed lunch each term if they prefer.
Supervision during lunchtime
Catering staff take an active role in making lunchtime an enjoyable experience for the children. They use special events or religious festivals to feature food from different cultures, such as Chinese New Year. Our annual Christmas dinner before the holidays is always a festive occasion!
Our Senior Lunchtime Supervisor and her team are on hand to help children to make healthy choices. Children with allergies are watched carefully to ensure they choose appropriate food.
A little dinner music
We are lucky to have a number of budding pianists who are encouraged to play on the school piano during lunchtime. This creates a nice ambience in the dining hall and helps children develop confidence in performing in front of peers in a friendly setting. When this is not possible, we play some relaxing recorded music.
