In Reception, homework is split into three strands
Each week the children receive a new reading book. Parents are encouraged to comment in the yellow reading records. We would like to know how your child is engaging with their reading. We will also write a comment each week on how they have read. It is helpful to focus on how they are using their phonic sounds, their on-going recognition of sight words and their understanding of what they have read.
Each week we send home a phonic sound for the children to practise recognising, reading and writing.
Cross-curricular home learning
Each week the children are given a task to extend and consolidate in-school learning. This will be a practical, fun, shared learning experience incorporating the seven areas of the Early Year’s Foundation Stage curriculum. This is marked by the teacher and regularly celebrated during school and children share and take pride in their achievements.
Our homework routine
On Wednesdays, we collect in homework books, reading books for changing and yellow reading records for marking. The children’s books bags will therefore be empty on Wednesday and Thursday. However, children are welcome and encouraged to take class books to enjoy at home with their families at any time.
On Fridays, We pack books bags with yellow reading records, new reading books and homework . These are sent out on Friday afternoon.
